Industry cannot afford to lose talent when the economy is down’

Industry is facing a human resources challenge in two areas: the ageing workforce and the shortage of skills, Mohammed Al Sellemi, Human Resources Director at Saudi Aramco, said. “The industry cannot afford to lose talent when the economy is down.” In other industries, such as finance and transportation, a college graduate may become an expert in their field in approximately three years. However, in the oil and gas industry, it takes about 10 to 16 years.

Texas Oil Continues to drop.

Finally, in January, 19 months into the crude oil price collapse, Texas producers recovered less crude oil than in the same month the previous year. The economic contraction gripping the upstream oil and gas industry squeezed tighter, forcing more layoffs, idling more drilling rigs, and driving well-permitting activity to a record monthly low.

We were humming right along and all of a sudden it came to a stop. What happened?

How Dangerous Is Our Industry?

How safe are we? Has the Industry changed and become a safer place to work. I still have to tell at least 5 people a day to put on their safety glasses.  I catch guys on a regular basis without fall protection or secondary fall protection. No work permit and on & on.
